Because you'll get the job done in half the time.
Because we offer fine-crafted CAD programs that have been designed and improved by 30 years of listening and interacting with our customers.
Because we provide some of the best after the sale support you will find, anywhere - we provide frequent free updates to our programs online, so you don't have to wait a year and spend more money to get a bug fixed or an annoyance cured. We have often provided new features within a week or two of a need being identified in our customer's discussions in our online BBS. That kind of response is really appreciated by our customers, making them some of the most loyal in the world.
Because we don't charge an arm and a leg for the tools you need, to fund marketing you don't.
Because our programs are designed to work better at the tasks you face often, rather than overlooking design improvements to add new features you may not use in order to have something the magazines will write about. We have been refining real work tools for 30 years, and it shows.
Because we recognize that each customer is different, and we make our programs extremely customizeable. Unlike other CAD programs, you can make your own menus (thats plural - and switch between them), your own icon bars, your own macros for script-like programming, and we provide free developer toolkits so that plug-ins can be made by anyone to provide any industy-specific functions we do not.
Because we know that your time is valuable, we don't waste it. Our programs are designed to be easy to get started with - we have never run CAD training classes in 30 years - by the time a class would be scheduled, you'll already be productive.
With all our heart and soul. And we back it up. We have never, in 30 years, charged for support. You pay for the phone call, we provide support. Period. For the life of the product. We still support (but no longer update) our first FastCAD program for DOS, created in 1985. The only way we can afford to do that is to not have many support calls. And we don't - because good program design and years of listening to our customers lets us eliminate problems.
Another way we back this up: You can download and try our newest products with full functionality for 14 days to make sure it works for you.
You can download the entire manual in PDF format and see what documentation is available. By the time you pay for our products, you can know exactly what you are getting. And you can both look at and interact with our customers in our Customer Discussion Forum before you buy - to ask questions from those who know and who do not work for us.
Historically, a craftsman was one who brought a high degree of skill and understanding to his work. He would labor diligently to create the finest work of which he was capable.
Today, much computer software is created by large teams, and personnel change frequently. The entire project is "managed" much as if it were a factory. The result, while sometimes successful, is often bloated, and while it "meets its specifications", it functions poorly at serving its end-user's needs. Newer versions are developed by different people, often with an eye much more focused on marketing than on producing a fine tool.
That is what we are all about - producing fine tools. Our programs place the ability to get a job done quickly, efficiently, and most of all, in a manner satisfying to our customers, before any "gee whiz" or marketing gimics - we don't bust commands into hundreds of variants when one or two will do, and we don't clutter our screen with endless icons, and we don't force you to fight to intermix mouse and keyboard. Much of what we are proud of is what we don't do, just as a woodworking craftsman would polish a surface so it would not splinter.
Our programs have one chief architect who has been specializing in CAD programs for over 30 years. And we design our programs by listening to our customers, not a marketing team. Our goal is to provide tools with which they can be craftsmen. Because ultimately, quality counts.
We've started with our focus and goals, and told you why we've been around longer than most of our competitors, but its time to explain the benefits of our products - for that, we direct you to our product selection page, which will let you see product screen shots and provide links to individual product feature pages:
