They don't. Not when documents can contain active objects. You can design your documents with buttons, controls, their own toolbars if desired. There is no limit. A document might be a process control panel. It might be a training guide. By creating objects within your drawing that perform whatever actions you wish, and only those actions, you can make a document into a working environment.
The image at the left shows an early version of our quickstart tutorial. It is just a CollectedThought active document, easily edited or changed interactively. It steps through several pages that each illustrate a set of features and techniques using CollectedThought.
The document not only has navigation buttons and its own toolbar, but different pages have live content - exercises that direct the user to try different steps and let them see the results live.
